Geniviv overview

Geniviv is where your music lives in LMG Core. It’s a shared library for your whole organization — but a smart one, with version history, precise sharing, and a full record of who did what.

Why not just a shared drive?

A plain shared folder gets you part of the way, then falls apart:

• You overwrite the “final” mix and lose the old one.
• Everyone can see everything — or nothing — with no in-between.
• Nobody knows who changed what, or when.

Geniviv fixes each of these by design. Every file keeps its history, sharing is per-person and per-file, and every action is logged.

How your library is laid out

Geniviv organizes work into folders and files, like a computer you share with your team. Open a folder to see what’s inside; open a file to see its versions, who can access it, and its full history.

Default visibility

By default, a file is visible to everyone in your organization. You can make a file private and then share it with specific people instead. See Sharing & access.

What you’ll always be able to see

Geniviv only ever shows you what you’re allowed to see. A private file you haven’t been given access to simply won’t appear in your lists. This keeps your view focused — and keeps sensitive work in the right hands.
